A family was interested in trying a Firstchance Developmental Support Worker (DSW) to extend on their child’s goals to improve his expressive and receptive language skills, social skills and increase community participation.

Firstchance organised a DSW to support Max* to attend his local Cubs group. Max has since received his first Cub badge and he took part in a talent quest where he stood before his peers and performed to a song and played air guitar.

His parents have been thrilled with his improvement in all goal areas and they recently received the news that he had received an additional $6,000.00 from NDIS to further develop these goals. This funding was in addition to funds for Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology support and will enable Max to continue to be included in his community with his peers, learn new skills while having loads of fun.
