News and events Super Strong & Daring Program Overview This pilot program has been developed by our experienced psychologist using research based cognitive behaviour techniques most often used in the treatment of children with generalised anxiety. The pilot program is being offered at a reduced price to families thanks to the generous support of Port Waratah Coal Services. Whilst the program is open to everyone. Existing Firstchance families will receive priority. Super Strong and Daring is a 9 week group program for children with a disability or developmental delay aged between 5 and 10 years old. The program will help children to identify feelings such as: fear, stress, worry, anxiety and by the end of the program equip them with an individualised toolkit of mindfulness and other skills and strategies to motivate and empower them to work towards change. This program will be delivered by our experienced psychologist once a week over 9 week period after school. Please note the program includes a reflection break on the 05/09 and 12/09. The focus of these lessons will be on the teaching of skills. These seven sessions will be delivered at Firstchance. There will be one group outing (venue TBC) to practice skills learnt over the seven week period. One session is is for parents only.
