Why I joined the Firstchance Board

I sat next to Darleen (GM) at a Rotary function and we started chatting about her role, and as the conversation progressed, we realised I have much experience I can bring to Firstchance. The more Darleen talked, the more I knew I could make a positive contribution to a successful organisation. I believe the NDIS brings opportunities for Firstchance, and my many years of public sector experience and management consultancy give me the skills needed to help maximise these opportunities. I hope my contribution enables Firstchance to achieve its aims and objectives.

The skills I bring to the Board

I bring more than 20 years’ experience to Firstchance, both as a senior executive in the Australian Public Service and as a principal consultant for a number of private consulting firms. My experience is firmly grounded in helping people make change in a smooth and engaging way by helping senior managers to design an effective change process and working with individuals to help them understand the impact of change and how to make the most of the opportunities it will bring and minimise the anxiety that always comes with change. I am an experienced facilitator, mediator and leader of teams. I have a range of management, management committee and board experience that I bring to Firstchance, and having recently moved to the area from Canberra, I am looking forward to meeting new people and expanding my networks.
