What is LAMP?

Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) is a therapeutic approach based on neurological and motor learning principles. The goal is to provide individuals a method of independently and spontaneously expressing themselves in any setting. The LAMP approach can be used with both Unity®& Words for Life.


Who can attend?

This event is targeted at professionals working with people who use AAC. However, it is appropriate for anyone who is keenly interested in learning more about LAMP, or who is already using the LAMP approach. Attendees may be parents, carers, therapists, educators, education support, or university students who have some knowledge of AAC.

What is covered?

Day 1:

Thursday 25 August 2022 - 9:30 am to 4 pm at Firstchance.

AAC theory, LAMP theory, and evidence-based, the five components of lamp (readiness to learn, shared focus, consistent and unique motor planning, auditory signals, natural consequences).
This day is the same material covered in the online course.


Day 2:

Friday 26 August 2022 - 9:30 am to 4 pm at Firstchance.

How to assess for and implement this therapy approach. Practical tools will also be given to assist in implementation. This is not covered online.
