Board Member - Brooke Hurt

What Drew me to the Firstchance Board

Throughout my career in People and Culture, I have seen first hand the profound impact that inclusion, connection and opportunity have on people's lives. My work has been dedicated to helping organisations create environments where individuals feel valued, supported and able to reach their potential.

What inspired me to join the Firstchance Board was the opportunity to contribute to that same purpose much earlier in life's journey. Firstchance's commitment to empowering children, supporting families and building inclusive communities strongly aligns with my belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Human Resource Management

  • Hogan Certification

Experience I bring to Firstchance

With more than 25 years of executive experience in People and Culture, I bring expertise in organisational strategy, governance and building high performing organisations.

My experience spans across culture enhancement and transformation, leadership development, strategic workforce planning, governance, risk management, change leadership and leading complex negotiations. I have partnered with Boards, executive teams and business leaders across a diverse range of industries, helping organisations navigate complexity, strengthen leadership capability and deliver sustainable outcomes for both people and organisational performance.

As a founder and Managing Director of Jessie Grace People & Culture, I also bring a strong commercial perspective, balancing strategic thinking with practical implementation. I value collaboration, thoughtful governance and building trusted relationships, and I enjoy working alongside others to solve complex challenges and create meaningful, lasting impact.

Above all, I bring a people centred perspective to Board discussions, ensuring decisions are strategically sound, well governed and focused on creating positive outcomes for the children, families and communities Firstchance serves.
