Moving Together: Play with Purpose Our Physiotherapy team introduced a new group designed to help 3–5-year-olds develop foundational gross motor skills like balance, strength, and coordination—skills that often create barriers to joining community activities and sports. Using the F-Words for Child Development framework, families identified what mattered most during these sessions. Many chose to focus on Function (building practical movement skills for everyday life), Family (creating opportunities for shared play and confidence-building), and Future (preparing children for participation in community activities like sports and playground fun). Through playful, parent-led sessions, families gained confidence and practical strategies to support their child’s development in everyday settings like parks and playgrounds. The group quickly became a space for connection, with regular attendance from dads who later organised playdates outside of sessions. This peer support added a valuable layer of community building, helping families feel more included and supported. Parents shared how much they valued learning alongside their children and connecting with others facing similar challenges. We’re excited to build on the success of this group—because when families move together, progress follows. Want to learn how the F-Words can help your child thrive?
