Seth’s Confidence Shines Through in His LEGO Success

At Firstchance, we love celebrating the achievements of the children we support, and Seth’s recent accomplishment in his Occupational Therapy sessions with Lara, is a wonderful example of hard work, resilience, and growth.

Seth has been focusing on developing a range of skills in his occupational therapy sessions, including:

• Fine motor coordination
• Planning and problem‑solving
• Emotional regulation
• Self‑belief and perseverance

To build these skills, Seth, his mum and Lara his Occupational Therapist have been working together on supported LEGO builds during sessions. Over time, Seth has shown increasing confidence and independence, gradually taking on more of the building process himself.

During the recent school holidays, Seth set himself a personal goal:
to complete some LEGO builds with minimal assistance.

Not only did he achieve this, he exceeded it.

Seth completed two complex LEGO sets, proudly showing his OT Lara the results. For the first model, he completed an impressive 95% independently, needing help only for a few difficult connection points. The second model was more challenging, but Seth and his mum both reflected on how differently he approached it compared to the past. He was calm, confident, and able to regulate himself when frustrations arose. When he needed help, he asked for it clearly and calmly.

Seth shared that he used his “Hot Tips for LEGO” strategies he has developed in his sessions with Lara, guided him through the builds. His success is a testament not only to his skill development but also to his growing confidence and belief in himself.
