Belinda - Senior Speech Pathologist

With over 25 years of experience in paediatric Speech Pathology, Belinda understands that meaningful progress begins with genuine connection. She works closely with children and their families to create a supportive, joyful, and neuro-affirming environment, one where every child feels heard, seen, and celebrated. Belinda ensures that each session is fun, purposeful, and tailored to the child’s individual strengths and interests. As the Speech Pathology Team Leader, Belinda values the power of collaboration. She actively works with schools, preschools, and other support team members to encourage continuity and a shared approach to each child’s development. Her particular areas of interest include early language acquisition including augmentative and alternative communication, speech and literacy development. 
On weekends, you’ll find Belinda cheering on her daughters from the sidelines of their sports games or cooking up a storm for family and friends.

Carol - Coordinator Speech Pathologist

Carol is a speech pathologist with a passion for supporting children to be the best communicator they can be. She has over 20 years experience working in schools, alongside families in their homes, and in the child’s local community. Carol prioritises what is important and interesting to each child to support them to get the most out of their sessions and build their skills. Her particular interests are in early language development, alternative and augmentative communication, literacy and working with children who need the support of a trauma-informed clinician. When she’s not at work, Carol is usually spending time with her family, walking or riding her bike, or playing the piano.

Kara - Coordinator Speech Pathologist

Kara has a Bachelor of Speech Pathology and is a passionate speech pathologist with over 15 years of experience helping children, young people, and families thrive through connection and communication. With her ADHD superpower, she brings boundless energy and creative thinking to every session, always finding new ways to support and understand each child. She especially loves running group programs that spark friendships and build community while helping kids reach their goals. When she’s not working, you’ll find Kara having fun climbing ropes, scaling walls, or dashing through the bush with her friends!

Katie - Coordinator Speech Pathologist

Katie is a passionate speech pathologist with 17 years of experience helping early years to young children communicate, connect, and eat. She has a special interest in Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Feeding, Selective Mutism, AAC and Literacy, and loves creating playful, practical therapy that’s built around each child’s unique strengths. Her sessions are fun, supportive, and always team-focused,  working closely with families, educators, therapists, and the wider medical team. When she’s not at work, you’ll find Katie at the park or beach with her family or friends, baking treats, watching movies, or getting competitive over handball with her kids.

Tamara is a passionate early childhood educator with over 18 years of experience supporting children with a disability or developmental delay and their families. She brings warmth, expertise, and a deep commitment to helping every child reach their potential. Tamara has a particular interest in early communication development and feeding difficulties, and works closely with families to build practical strategies that support growth in everyday routines. Her approach is family-centred, strengths-based, and always focused on what matters most to each child.

Alannah is a fun and energetic speech pathologist who is passionate about helping children express themselves and become the most confident version of themselves. Alannah loves running groups where friendships, fun and connection can be found. With a passion for helping children communicate confidently, she uses games, laughter, and evidence-based practice to make therapy engaging and effective. Outside of work you’ll find Alannah at the beach with an acai bowl in hand.

Amy - Speech Pathologist

Amy is a passionate and caring speech pathologist with over 15 years of experience supporting children and their families. She loves to collaborate closely with families and the important people in a child’s life to help reach meaningful goals.  Amy thinks outside of the box and is always looking for creative ideas to support children to build their communication skills, increase participation and spark joy. Amy has particular interests in early language development, alternative and augmentative communication, feeding and neurodiversity affirming practices. Outside of work, Amy is likely to be playing imaginary games with her daughters, walking in nature or relaxing with her cat, a good book and multiple cups of tea.

Cecily - Speech Pathologist

Cecily is a friendly and passionate speech pathologist with over 13 years of experience supporting children and families across various settings. She has specific interests in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), early communication development, and supporting children with dysphagia and feeding difficulties. Cecily is known for her creative, family-centred approach, tailoring support to the unique needs of each child and their family.

In her spare time, Cecily enjoys playing netball and spending time with her family.

Herra is a bilingual speech pathologist from a Korean background with 5 years of experience supporting children and families. She has particular interests in speech, early literacy and bilingual language development. She loves finding creative ways of incorporating clients’ strengths and interests to support their goals. Outside of work, Herra enjoys playing music, gaming or spending time her partner and dog.

Julia is a fun loving and dedicated Speech Pathologist with over 15 years of experience across a range of settings. She is passionate about supporting children and their families to develop communication, language, literacy, and feeding skills through a child- and family-centred approach. Her professional expertise is enriched by personal life experience, including raising a family, which brings warmth and empathy to her practice. Outside of work, Julia enjoys outdoor adventures and spending quality time with family and friends.

Kristine - Speech Pathologist

Kristine is a speech pathologist with 16 years of experience supporting children with a disability or developmental delay and their families. She works in our NDIS team and provides weekly support to children and families through Awabakal Children’s Services. Kristine is passionate about delivering culturally responsive, family-centred therapy and loves seeing the progress her clients make. Her approach is collaborative, respectful, and grounded in years of experience across diverse settings.

Melanie - Speech Pathologist

Melanie has over 10 years of experience working in the disability sector. She has a particular passion for paediatric feeding and motor speech disorders and is dedicated to supporting children and families through holistic, evidence-based intervention. Her work focuses on empowering children with complex needs, especially those experiencing feeding challenges and motor-based communication difficulties. She brings a compassionate, family-centred approach to her therapy, drawing on a decade of hands-on experience and ongoing professional development.

Outside of work, Melanie enjoys staying active through gym sessions, running, and learning to play golf. She also has a love for gardening and reading—particularly nutrition journals, though she always makes time for a good fiction book to unwind.

Rachel - Speech Pathologist 

Rachel is a speech pathologist with 6 years of experience supporting children with a disability or developmental delay and their families. She brings empathy, patience, and a playful energy to her sessions, making therapy fun and functional. Rachel loves being part of the Firstchance team and is passionate about helping families reach their goals. Outside of work, she enjoys watching Rugby League, fishing, and relaxing with a good book.

Tina is a speech pathologist with 9 years of experience supporting children with a disability or developmental delay and their families. She is passionate about helping children build skills early in life to support greater independence later on. Tina enjoys working across speech, language, literacy, and feeding, and loves celebrating each child’s progress—especially those first breakthroughs. Outside of work, Tina enjoys painting, cooking, ceramics, staying active, and spending time with family and friends.

Zoe holds a Bachelor of Speech Pathology and a Bachelor of Education (Primary Teaching), bringing a unique blend of classroom and clinical experience to her role. She is passionate about supporting children with disabilities and complex needs, and loves working in a collaborative team that empowers families to reach their goals. Zoe is flexible, motivated, and brings strong communication skills and school system insight to her work. Outside of Firstchance, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing sports, going to concerts, and travelling.

With over two decades of experience in paediatric physiotherapy, I’m dedicated to helping children with disabilities achieve their fullest potential. I believe in making therapy engaging and fun, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. I bring an individual approach to my practice with a toolbox of knowledge and skills. My approach is centered around providing individualized care and working alongside families to ensure the best possible outcomes. Every session is an opportunity to inspire, motivate, and empower young minds and bodies.
In my spare time, I love to be active and outdoors with my family. The beach is our playground.  I also value the company of a good book, and a Marvel Movie Marathon!

Amy - Physiotherapist 

Amy is a newly graduated physiotherapist passionate about paediatric care, with over five years of volunteer experience supporting children. She approaches therapy with energy and creativity, tailoring each session to meet family centred goals and inspire confidence and joy in every young client. Her favourite moments come from turning exercises into fun challenges that help children’s bodies grow stronger. When she’s not working, you’ll find her on the soccer field, trying new foods, soaking up the sun at the beach, or exploring scenic destinations!

As a recent graduate, she brings fresh energy, curiosity, and a strong commitment to family-centred care. Outside of work, she enjoys playing touch football, rugby league and spending time with family and friends.

Michelle - Senior Specialist Educator 

Michelle qualified Teacher - Early Childhood Education and brings a wealth of experience and warmth to her role. Michelle leads our Sector Capacity Building Team that provides consultancy and support to early childhood centres across our footprint and in Ballina. She loves building strong relationships with children and families, and feels privileged to be part of their journey. Michelle is passionate about inclusive practices, collaborative partnerships with educators, and creating joyful, meaningful learning experiences. She also enjoys supporting siblings through the SibsRule program. Outside of work, Michelle loves beach days, travelling in her caravan, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog. 

Karen - Specialist Educator

Karen has held a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood for 30 years, along with a passion for play and connection. She believes in celebrating the strengths and interests of the children and families she supports, using creativity, flexibility, and a love of learning about people, to imbed meaningful goals into their everyday lives. Karen brings a positive energy to whatever she does, believing that we all do better when we can have fun. Her days beyond work revolve around her kids, her cats, watching the soccer, chasing the sun, and sea water whenever she can.

Kathy - Specialist Educator

Kathy qualified early childhood teacher and has over 25 years of experience supporting children with disabilities and developmental delays. She joined Firstchance in 2000, drawn by its reputation for inclusive, family-centred support. Kathy brings deep knowledge of child development, a passion for social skill building, and experience in AAC and transition to school processes. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, gardening, home renovating, and taking her dogs for walks and drives.

With a Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood and over 20 years of experience, Kristy is deeply committed to supporting children and families through nurturing, play-based learning. Her empathetic nature and passion for play shine through in the meaningful relationships she builds with the families she works with. Kristy brings a wealth of knowledge, heart, and dedication to every interaction, creating safe and joyful environments for children to thrive. Outside of work, she embraces life’s adventures with her husband and five kids, cheers passionately for the Knights, and soaks up the sunshine whenever she can.

Dannielle holds a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Social Science and is passionate about supporting children with a disability or developmental delay. She brings positivity, flexibility, and a love of play-based learning to her work, helping children feel confident and engaged. Dannielle enjoys working closely with families to advocate for their children and feels lucky to be part of a team that shares her commitment to inclusion. Outside of work, she loves going to the beach with her kids and dog, spending time with loved ones, and seeing live music.

Kylie - Specialist Educator 

Kylie holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and brings both professional and personal experience to her role at Firstchance. As a mother of two children with additional needs, she values respectful communication and understands the importance of empowering families. Kylie draws on her classroom teaching background to support children’s development and learning through inclusive, strengths-based approaches. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, exploring the outdoors with her family, and spending time at the beach.

Nicole has a Bachelor of Teaching and post graduate qualifications in disability support in early childhood and educational leadership. Nicole has over 15 years of experience educating children and working alongside families to support their child’s development. Nicole is passionate about helping children and families to understand that different brains need different things to thrive. Nicole supports children as they transition into early childhood services and primary school, working in partnership with the child, their family and educational setting to ensure a positive and well supported experience.

Kerrie - Specialist Educator

Kerrie is a trained educator with a Diploma in Social Science ( Child Studies ) and over 30 years o experience working with children and their families. Kerrie works in our Karuah Hub and PAL programs - She is passionate in working with Indigenous families in their communities, connecting with children through fun play experiences, embedding and implementing individualised goals and building on children’s interests and strengths.  Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs, drumming, building Lego and painting. She also has a love for gardening.

Courtney - Psychologist

Courtney is a clinical neuropsychologist with a passion for helping kids and families understanding and getting better control over their brains, mostly through assessment but she does do some therapy too. Outside of Firstchance, she also works with children with brain injuries. She loves to see kids having fun when they’re learning about themselves, and her idea of fun is seeing how far kids can come as they grow and learn. When she’s not at work, Courtney is usually walking, watching television, or wrangling the children and animals who live in her circus of a house.

Alicia is a kind and caring paediatric Occupational Therapist, she brings extensive experience and knowledge having worked across a range of settings, for over 25 years.  She loves working closely with families to support their children’s development.  Alicia is passionate about working collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children.  Alicia’s approach is holistic and family centred.  When she is not working she enjoy spending time with her family and friends and travelling.

Bonne - Coordinator Occupational Therapist

Bonnie is a dedicated occupational therapist with a passion for supporting neurodivergent children and their families. With a deep understanding of regulation, development, and connection, she works alongside caregivers to create practical strategies that work in real life. Bonnie brings empathy, creativity, and a whole-family approach to her practice. She believes that when parents feel supported, children thrive. Bonnie has a busy and boisterous family and enjoys time outside, cooking and at sport, but she really needs more time for a nap and a good book!

Lara - Coordinator Occupational Therapist 

Lara loves supporting and empowering children and families to reach their goals and lead fulfilling lives, both through her direct work with families, as well as her clinical supervision of the OT team. Lara has over 2 decades of experience working as an OT. She has a strong background in and understanding of regulation, relationships, sensory processing difficulties, and developmental delays, and is a certified CO-OP therapist. Her approach is always family-centred, fun, collaborative, evidence informed and neurodiversity affirming. As a mum of three busy kids, Lara understands family life and how hard it is to ‘fit in all in’. She loves camping and being in the great outdoors, and takes any opportunity for fun and play, including dancing, singing and games with her kids.

Amanda is a friendly, caring, and dedicated Occupational Therapist committed to supporting children and their families. She values collaboration and focuses on meaningful goals that are important to the child and their family, creating a positive and supportive environment. Amanda incorporates each child's unique interests and ensures that therapy sessions are fun. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.

Katrina - Occupational Therapist

Katrina has been supporting children and families in various roles over the past 17 years. She holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honors) and is passionate about helping children engage in the things that matter most to them. Outside of Firstchance, she also works in disability support, striving to make a positive impact in the lives of those she works with. When she’s not working, Katrina enjoys board games & trivia, going for scenic walks, baking sweet treats to share, spoiling her three nephews and supporting the Newcastle Knights in the NRL.

Lily holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and adores her role working with children and families at Firstchance. She deeply values creating strong connections with the families she works with and finding ways to enhance their strengths. When not at Firstchance, Lily spends time with her two fur babies (dogs) and teaches ballet, jazz and contemporary at a local dance studio.

Matt is a kind and compassionate Occupational Therapist with years of experience supporting children and families. Matt thrives to develop strong therapeutic relationships with children and families using a fun and person-centred approach based on strengths, interests and passions. Outside of work, Matt enjoys sports such as surfing, tennis and soccer, as well as a camping trip away or catching up with friends.

Melanie is an approachable, caring occupational therapist with 15 years of experience. Melanie is passionate about supporting children and their families using a neuro-affirming approach and ensuring that kids have a voice in their goals and supports. Melanie believes in the importance of collaborating with everyone within a child’s life so that everyone is on the same page in working towards the things that are important to a child and their family. Outside of Firstchance Melanie is mum to two girls and a dog (!) and loves time at the beach, listening to music and reading a good book!

Nadia is an occupational therapist with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and a Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play. She works in our NDIS program and provides consultancy support to the team at Jesmond Community Preschool. Nadia is passionate about teaming up with families and educators to find practical, creative solutions that fit into everyday routines. She brings a wide range of experience and a deep respect for the trust families place in Firstchance. Outside of work, Nadia enjoys snorkelling, bushwalking, ceramics, and spending time in nature with her family.

Rebecca is an occupational therapist who brings energy, creativity, and a strengths-based approach to every session. She is passionate about helping children and families feel empowered to reach their goals and loves that no two days at Firstchance are the same. Rebecca values collaboration and evidence-based practice, and draws on her experience as a parent to embed strategies into everyday routines. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dog, gardening, and watching cricket.
